Binary Reptile Hatches

Longtime friends and songwriting partners S. Craig Zahler and Jeff Herriott announce the creation of Binary Reptile, the latest project from the duo who scored the 2015 horror-western movie Bone Tomahawk starring Kurt Russell. Following the success of the film, Zahler and Herriott were tapped to lend tracks from their first album Crawl Into the Narrow Caves for the ear movie, The Narrow Caves, which features voice acting by Vincent D’Onofrio, Will Patton, Wyatt Russell and Lili Simmons. Though the pair have written and recorded a number of heavy metal albums together as Realmbuilder on the label I Hate Records of Sweden, they adopted a new moniker in 2016 and with that, Binary Reptile crawled out of its egg and onto to new land.

About Binary Reptile:

Binary Reptile is melodic synthesizer music that slithered from the pixelated waters of a diverse group of influences. The soundtrack maestros of Italy such as Fabio Frizzi, Goblin, Stelvio Cipriani, and Walter Rizzati have affected the trajectory of this digital creature as have new age and minimalist composers like Jean Michel Jarre, Kitaro, and Brian Eno.  Also coloring the scaly skin of this entity are martial industrial artists such as Triarii, Kreusweg Ost, and Argentum and the quirky melodic sensibilities of dungeon synth artists such as Mortiis, Barak Tor, and Depressive Silence. John Carpenter, Skrillex, and Daft Punk also affected the DNA of this reptile.

Although the group is primarily interested in instrumental material, the parameters are not fixed. Pop songs and dark ambient music as well as an integration of analog and live instruments are part of the slithering itinerary. Binary Reptile music is from the future by way of the past and the result of two strong different music sensibilities, nightmares, and 30 years of friendship.

The music of Binary Reptile can be heard on the Music page and purchased via the Store. Additionally, this duo is available to score television shows, films, audio works or other commissioned projects.
